All
our consultations are by appointment only (except emergencies) and
we provide a personal and prompt service. Emergencies will be seen
without appointment at any time and out of hours at the discretion
of the emergency veterinary surgeon. We pride ourselves in the provision
of 24-hour emergency cover which to allow a rapid and efficient
service must be restricted to genuine emergencies at the discretion
of the veterinary surgeon on call.
Emergency
treatment cover is provided by our own veterinary surgeons through
a dedicated GP and Veterinary Surgeons call handling facility based
locally. A veterinary nurse is also on call 24 hours a day to assist
the veterinary surgeons with emergencies, to care for in patients
and to handle minor emergencies where appropriate.
We
are able to advise on all aspects of pet ownership and care including
behavioural and nutritional problems and, being appointed by DEFRA,
are able to organise and issue Pet Passports and Export Certificates
under current government regulations. We can carry our BVA Hip Dysplasia
and Elbow Dysplasia screening and organise ophthalmic examinations
prior to breeding.
We
provide veterinary services to Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Police
Dog section and Rowan Lobb, the Practice Principal, is responsible
for the overall care of the Police Dogs in our patch in Cornwall.
This involves a slightly different and fascinating approach to veterinary
medicine, perhaps equivalent of human sports medicine and a unique
challenge for all personnel within the Practice along with experience
in particular of the German Shepherd and various "sniffer dogs"!
Whilst
not our primary function, we can advise and supply pet foods and
ancillary products.
